Former Prime Minister Morarjibhai Desai was honoured by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
Desai, according to Prime Minister Modi, put forth a lot of effort to make India more affluent.
“I pay homage to our former PM Shri Morarjibhai Desai,” the Prime Minister said in a tweet. He is well-known for his significant contribution to nation-building. He went to great lengths to make India more prosperous. In public life, he was continually emphasising the importance of honesty.”
Desai, the country’s first non-Congress prime minister, was born in Valsad on February 29, 1896.
