According to the police, a juvenile girl’s stepfather allegedly raped her multiple times in Chirag Delhi, and the suspect is still at large.
On Saturday, the Malviya Nagar police station received a complaint, according to the police. According to cops, the underage girl lived in a Dehradun shelter home for children from low-income families and was in Delhi for her vacations.
‘From June to August, the victim spent her vacation at her mother’s leased residence in Chirag Delhi. That house also housed the girl’s stepfather. According to the complaint, the man regularly raped the girl while she was staying in Chirag Delhi,’ said deputy commissioner of police (south) Benita Mary Jaiker.
A case was filed under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act. According to the DCP, police are conducting investigations in order to apprehend the suspect.
According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data released in September this year, while crimes against women in Delhi decreased by 24.65% in 2020 compared to 2019, possibly due to the Covid-19 pandemic that kept people mostly indoors last year, the national capital still topped the Union Territories (UTs) in the number of rapes reported.
